La Tatoaba
Permanently installed for the protection of the Sea of Cortez in Puertecitos, Baja California, Mexico 2014
This artwork was purchased by the Mayor of Puertecitos, Clara Orozco, and installed for the City of Puertecitos to represent the strive of the Mayor and the Baja California Sea of Cortez region to expand marine protection against illegal commercial fishermen. The sculpture represents “La Totoaba”, a fish that is fished illegally for it’s bladder by the Chinese commercial fishermen. The Totoaba is holding a telephone and is calling for help to preserve and improve the vast marine ecosystem that is the Sea of Cortez.
